What about the babies?

It seems media coverage of the coronavirus is unrelenting, including recent coverage by various sources that the “U.S. death toll from COVID-19 eclipsed 700,000.

However, isn’t it strange that the same media is largely silent about the fact that 900,000 babies are aborted per year in the United States, many in Kansas?

Just sayin ...

Be safe and healthy

Good Morning, Linda,

The holidays are upon us and I feel that each individual should try to make this year safe for as many people as they can.

Austria went on complete lockdown status on Friday. On Saturday, Germany was considering doing the same. All due to a FOURTH wave of COVID-19. I have friends who’ve had many problems getting flights back stateside for several reasons and most due to COVID-19 in one way or another.

To compound COVID-19 issues worldwide, the holidays, and the unrest and angst caused by recent injustice in killing people leaves us all like a pressure cooker. For real.

Earth is cooking in many ways and not by global warming alone. Yes, global warming is a thing for those who don’t believe in it.

COVID-19 is a thing. I’ve received my booster immunization and I did extremely well with it. Injection site aches only. That’s normal. If you are in the zone to receive a booster, please call the Ellsworth County Health Department and get scheduled. They have all three types of immunizations available.

I’m praying that everyone has a safe Thanksgiving right on through Christmas and the New Year.

It used to be that holiday time was family time, precious family time. Worries were traveling, the weather, and drunk drivers. Can we go back to that? Reality is no. Not now, anyway.

Please stay safe everyone. In all honesty, COVID-19 might NEVER go away. I’ve tried telling people this and most health care workers understand.

You don’t have to gown, glove, and mask up to the nines to be safe. COVID-19 is a respiratory virus. As such, it spreads the same as ANY other respiratory virus. It will get in via your mouth, eyes, and by breathing it in. Number one is breathing in ONE droplet. That’s all it takes.

Covid-19 differs in that it is much more contagious, it affects the whole body and the lungs in ways that no other virus has done up until this point in time. Being more virulent, it is also spread faster and easier.

If you have a large gathering, please stay safe. Masks are perfect in keeping you safe.

Just as the respiratory flu has different variations each year, and scientists try to determine which ones will be most prevalent so that the flu vaccines are made for what they believe will be the prominent strains, I see this happening with COVID-19.

I’m not being pessimistic at all, the reality is that some strains will be around for a long time to come, and most likely it will be forever just like the flu. That is how tenacious COVID-19 is and the way it spreads more easily is only one more point for COVID-19.

For several weeks now, I’ve not sequestered myself at home, I’ve been dropping into Hattie Jo’s lately so I’m getting out and I wear a mask. By the way, if you’ve not been to Hattie Jo’s you should go and see what you are missing out on. The moonless midnight is wonderful and the Hibiscus tea with a one pump each of sugar free vanilla and sugar free raspberry is delish. I’ve also had this tea poured over ice as a refresher.

Have a safe rest of November and December and tell your loved ones you love them every chance you get. “I love you” is free to say. Be safe and healthy.

Thank you so much!

Mary Schmidt
