Don’t forget the dad

I offer a point of consideration for proponents of antiabortion laws. Do you agree that men have a role in the pregnancy of women? Of course, you do. Given that truth, if women are forced to carry the burden of birth, what burden should the father be forced to carry? Based on what I have read, the anti-abortion laws place no burden at all on the father. The burden falls entirely on the mother, to the point of indictment, conviction, and imprisonment should she decide to have an abortion. Seems just a tiny bit one-sided, don’t you agree?

Therefore, in fairness, I recommend a complement to anti-abortion laws’ penalties leveled against mothers forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term: The father of the child will bear FULL financial responsibility for the child until that child reaches the age of 21 and for any medical care the mother needs as a result of the pregnancy and birth. The complement certainly makes as much or more sense than the antiabortion laws being passed and promoted around the country.

Given the anti-abortion laws’ dictates to mothers, it seems only fair that the laws include dictates to fathers. If such a corollary were included in the antiabortion laws, I wonder how long it would take for male support of those laws to evaporate? One minute, maybe two.
