Carneiro concerns continue

Dear Editor, This video is representative of the typical behavior of the Carneiro Township Board Leadership. (Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMjK4Vg3Zfw) Attendees of the 09-29-2023 (meeting) were not informed of a special meeting. Misinformation by the board is not unusual, thus we were not aware of the actual agenda.

Trustee Kelly Cikanek and Clerk Mike Ptacek made statements relating to KSA 80-302 (auditing process) that should be fact checked.

Mary L. Schmidt was denied her request to be added to the email roster, which is the only way for the public to receive notice since the board does not post the information in the local paper. Violation of KSA 75-4318 (b).

As the video shows, attendees were told to leave. Clerk Mike Ptacek is clear in his statement that rent for the space was paid by the board, therefore the board has temporary ownership of the building.

Carneiro Community Church Board member Kathy Henderson, who was in attendance and witnessed Mike Ptacek’s monologue, should have corroborated his statement if in fact true; she sat silent. Rent is paid with taxpayers’ money.

The system was designed to give voice to all; leadership was designed to bring us together. This is a sad situation. Remember, your vote counts.

Thanks, Mary L. Schmidt Ellsworth

Remember votes at reelection time Our First District Congressman Tracey Mann joined with his cohorts Paul Gosar, Lauren Boebert and Matt Gaetz in voting not to fund the government. Our senator, Roger Marshall, also joined his cohorts Rand Paul, Ron Johnson, Ted Cruz and Marsha Blackburn in the same refusal to fund the government.

Regardless of any of their other votes on any issue, this vote indicates their willingness to destroy the institution they took an oath to support. That vote meant they were willing to leave our military unpaid and social security checks unsent, among other federal services.

Representative Mann also voted that the crew investigating the no evidence claim for President Biden’s possible impeachment would be deemed essential employees, so they would continue to be paid. Please remember these votes when they come up for reelection.

Thank you, Ron Svaty Ellsworth
