Schulte is excellent BOE candidate
Dear Editor and USD 327 constituents,
Bernie Schulte is worthy of your vote for school board member. We taught together for 15 years. He taught my kids, so I know that he brings important qualities to the table.
Mr. Schulte is committed to providing the best possible education for our children. I watched him work long days, late at night and the wee hours of the morning in his classroom, to create mathematics lessons that would both challenge and enable all students.
He has first-hand experience in the complexities and possibilities of the education process. His knowledge will make him a discerning voice of reason as the district moves forward.
He is a man of integrity, good-hearted and honest, who will represent taxpayers, parents and students with their collective good in mind.

Award not given proper recognition
Dear Editor,
I read with excitement your article “County businesses recognized at state level,” front page, Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, edition. I was saddened when I realized the article’s opening statement mentioned MaiCo Industries and Midland Railroad Hotel, but not Feeding the Children of North Central Kansas. Why was Feeding the Children of North Central Kansas left out? This statement gave the impression that there was no award won.
I then moved on to read the rest of the article and again saddened to see that the first paragraph of the article read the same way. Why was Feeding the Children of North Central Kansas left out of both the opening statement and the first paragraph? I find it odd that MaiCo and Midland Railroad Hotel were each mentioned three times in your article, yet Feeding the Children was only mentioned once, almost as an aside. MaiCo won the state award for their category. Feeding the Children of North Central Kansas won a regional award in their category. Midland Railroad Hotel won a merit award for being nominated in their category. Can you please explain why this information seems to be unequal in your reporting?
