Criticism was out of line

Regarding David Criswell’s Nov. 8 letter, “Concerns about Wilson mayor.”

Shame on Mr. Criswell for his tasteless letter criticizing the leadership of former Wilson Mayor Mike Peschka, even after his unfortunate death in October. Mr. Criswell identifies himself as a former Wilson mayor and city council member. If Wilson is in such dire straits, as he claims, perhaps Mr. Criswell should spend more time re-examining his apparent failure to solve these issues as a council member and less time continuing to sling mud at those who stepped up to try and make positive changes.

Sincerely, Darrin Peschka Camarillo, Calif. (formerly of Wilson)

Thankful for fraud prevention Dear Editor: After years of having my investments on my computer, I decided to go online in July, as my investment company wanted to go paperless.

The second week of August, I wanted to check the balances. When I tried to get on, a beautiful page, all fall colors, came up with a black spot to sign in. I could not get in so I called a number on the page and got Jane of the fraud department. She advised me someone was trying to access my fraud accounts. Mr. Baken did a search of my computer and I found someone was trying to get $5,000 from my checking account. She told me that William Baken would help protect my funds by transferring them to a Treasury Bitcoin Account. They would work to find out who was accessing my information.

This went on for several weeks with phone calls saying we had to move the money quietly and we could not talk to anyone about it, even my family. Mr. Baken, in the meantime, had access to all my information and was working to set up bank accounts close to my home and did not want me to set up one at my bank where I was known. They had to be close to my home though once started had to move quickly.

After this was accomplished, he had the investment company send checks from my IRA and an inherited IRA. I was to deposit them immediately. He was monitoring my accounts regularly. (Later I found out he had transferred another substantial fund to one bank.)

I went to my bank and tried to move the funds. I was blessed, as my bank would not do the transfer as they knew it was fraud. They sent an officer to do a wellness check on me, and while here, the Attorney General’s Office called me and told me to turn off my computer and file a report. I was lucky to have such competent bank employees.

Administration doesn’t show support USD 112 Board of Education, Continued from previous edition Well Mr. Lowry, I can say that currently Wilson doesn’t like you either because you have done nothing but pillage our school of lockers, equipment and staff to better the individuals that hired you to come in and close a school. Maybe one day our upper administration will show support for Wilson and its students. I would hope the board would pursue and allow Wilson/Dorrance to do a land transfer to a school district that wants us and is happy to have our students and community. One that is already receiving nearly all the 7-12th graders and some elementary students from our area. Rather than pushing for a transfer to a district that will not benefit from it for years to come. Take note of the effort that our community made to help make a land transfer to a location that the students have shown they want and are thriving in. And for once show support for our kids and allow our tax dollars to cover our children, to give them the best opportunities with their education.

Mr. Lowry, I ask you, has the same information that was sent to USD 407 been sent to the other schools for the land transfer? Has anything recently been asked vs. day two of school when you asked the other districts minus Russell? I also want taxpayers to be aware of the lack of work and production that is being accomplished by your staff. I know for myself I’m unhappy with the use of my taxpayer funds to the upper management of our district. I also don’t understand how it’s now okay for teachers to be driving from one end to the other end to ensure students are being taught adequate but when this was brought up before it was hit with, I won’t do that, and the teachers were allowed to not travel to teach kids from Claflin to Wilson. Just seems weird to me how there is also a double standard going on with all of this.

Just some food for thought for you to be thinking about, and just so you’re aware I will to (sic) be sending this letter to the editor as well because I believe our communities should be aware of the lack of support the upper administration has for our community. Concerned parent and taxpayer, Jeff Keith Wilson
