Support for educators, city government important

First, on a positive note Mrs. Hilbig’s praise of Ellsworth teachers bears repeating: “Our teachers and staff show up every day with a commitment to excellence, care and perseverance. We recognize and appreciate the many ways our team goes above and beyond, not just during the school day, but after hours as they coach, sponsor clubs, lead events and support students in countless ways.” Public school teachers and public schools are the backbone of our republic and deserve our strong support.

Second, I am confident that if Mr. Erdman had any real experience with or knowledge of “police states” and “police state tactics,” he would not be throwing such insults at his city administrators and city council members. Instead, he should be thankful that his city has such people willing to serve him and his fellow citizens. If his concerns about the creation of a police state are genuine, he needs to reevaluate his support for Messrs. Trump and Musk, autocratic wannabes for sure.
