Acknowledging junior high FB team The Ellsworth Bearcats Junior High Football team cinched their final win of the season against Lyons two weeks ago. The Bearcats won this League game 44-6. This is extremely impressive, because it means they had a completely undefeated season. No, seriously, they won against Sterling 8-0, Beloit 36-6, Southeast of Saline 38-16, Republic County 44-0, Minneapolis 34-0, Sacred Heart 36-14, and of course, Lyons.

This is extremely impressive, in many ways better than the High School team, and deserves to be spotlighted by the paper.

Trump distractions deliberate Trump’s deliberate distractions from the Epstein files this week include demolishing the East Wing of the White House, continuing the Argentine bailout with the threat of importing more of their beef, making a claim to his former defense lawyer for $230 million for his 2021 insurrection and government files cases, continuing the government shutdown, pardoning of more fraudsters and threatening a land invasion of Venezuela.

MAGA says we should not be upset with the demolition because other presidents have done renovations, the ballroom will be beautiful and the taxpayers are not paying. Maybe they are right. Maybe they can find a comparable renovation done without permission or approval where a 12,000 square foot part of the White House was destroyed and replaced by a 90,000 square foot addition. Maybe some brilliant architect can design a 90,000 square foot ballroom that somehow doesn’t overshadow the 53,000 square foot remaining White House. Maybe the American people don’t need access to their building. Maybe all those private donors are pledging that money because they don’t expect anything in return. Maybe the East Wing can be demolished and a new 90,000 square foot addition can be built for $250 million, when the Obama renovations cost $326 million.

Press secretary Caroline Leavitt says they didn’t need permission for the demolition. She just described the Trump administration.
