POLITICAL SEASON

Ellsworth County residents have opportunity to meet with reps

Every year about this time, Ellsworth County can expect to see a parade of politicians as they work their way through their districts, collecting information from constituents they may or may not take with them back to Topeka and Washington.

First in line this year is U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall, a Great Bend Republican. Marshall will conduct a public town hall at noon Friday, Jan. 28, at Ellsworth’s J.H. Robbins Library. The public is invited to attend to learn about federal matters and ask questions of the senator.

“I look forward to the opportunity to speak with Kansans and learn more about the issues and concerns impacting their lives,” Marshall said. “I value the opportunity to hear directly from folks in Ellsworth County so that I can take their stories and concerns with me when I return to Washington D.C.”

Another reminder — the annual Legislative Coffee with state Sen. Richard Wilborn, R-McPherson, and Reps. Steven Johnson, R-Assaria, and Troy Waymaster, R-Bunker Hill, will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Grandma’s Soda Shop, Wilson.

This replaces the traditional two meetings in Wilson and Ellsworth by rotating the sessions on an annual basis. The 2023 Legislative Coffee will be in Ellsworth.

This year’s coffee is sponsored by Wilson Communications and the Ellsworth County Independent-Reporter.
