The Ellsworth High School volleyball team competed against St. John and Russell Sept. 29, in the Ellsworth Triangular.

In varsity action, Ellsworth defeated St. John 25-18 and 25-13. The Bearcats also defeated Russell 25-19 and 25-10. Varsity stat leaders for the Bearcats were:

• Aces — Kylan Turnipseed, 3; Elyse Haxton, 3; Peyton Coonrod, 2.

• Assists — Kylan Turnipseed, 37.

• Kills — Isabelle Lindsley, 16; Rylan Ohl, 13; Greta Klein, 10.

• Stuff Blocks — Alexis Moore, 2; Rylan Ohl, 2.

• Digs — Elyse Haxton, 18; Peyton Coonrod, 16; Kylan Turnipseed, 9; Greta Klein, 9; Isabelle Lindsley, 9.

The varsity’s overall record is now 15-6, with an NCAA record of 6-0.

The junior varsity also had a good outing. They defeated St. John 25-14 and 25-10, as well as Russell 25-21, 25-17.

The junior varsity’s overall record is now 12-3.
