The Ellsworth High School Bearcats Varsity Volleyball Team finished second Sept. 10 during the Ellsworth Invitational in Ellsworth.

According to Coach Amy Johnson, the Bearcats finished 4-1 on the day. The team now has an overall record on the season of 6-3, with an NCAA record of 2-0.

Here is how the matches played out: Ellsworth won both of its matches with Nickerson, 25-20 and 25-20.

Ellsworth also won both of its matches with Republic County, 25-14 and 25-12.

The Bearcats then came out on top of Sacred Heart, 25-19 and 25-13.

However, Ellsworth faltered against Ellinwood. The ’Cats lost both games 23-25 and 17-25.

Ellsworth completed the day with two wins against Central Plains, 25-17 and 25-14.

The Bearcat stat leaders for all five matches were:

• Aces — Greta Klein, 14; Kylan Turnipseed, 12; Rylan Ohl, 11; Ryan Tenbrink, 8; Peyton Coonrod, 8.

• Assists — Kylan Turnipseed, 108.

• Kills — Isabelle Lindsley, 38; Elyse Haxton, 30; Greta Klein, 25; Rylan Ohl, 19.

• Stuff Blocks — Greta Klein, 3; Rylan Ohl, 3; Paityn Tenbrink, 2; Alexis Moore, 2; Elyse Haxton, 2.

• Digs — Isabelle Lindsley, 36; Peyton Coonrod, 34; Elyse Haxton, 33; Kylan Turnipseed, 30; Ryan Tenbrink, 19; Greta Klein, 18.

Next up for the Ellsworth Volleyball Team is Sacred Heart Sept. 13 at home and Little River Sept. 15 on the road.
