SALINA — The Ellsworth volleyball team traveled to Salina Sept. 16 to take on the Sacred Heart Knights in a league double- header. The Bearcats made a clean sweep of Sacred Heart with scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-15, 25-11.

In the opening match, Ellsworth jumped out to an early lead as senior Lexi Moore got things started by returning a Sacred Heart dig straight down to the ground, then blocked a Knight kill attempt for an early two points.

Sophomore Kinly Place served the first five service of the first set, including an ace, as the Bearcats gained the early 5-0 advantage. The Bearcats were able to build on that foundation to go on and win game one.

In the second set, Ellsworth allowed the Knights to hang around until the score reached 9-9. At that point, senior Jo Lindsley placed a successful kill to go up to 10-9, which was immediately followed by a Lindsley ace serve as the Bearcats began to pull away and outscore the Knights 16-6 to win set two.

In the nightcap, Ellsworth started where they left off, having little trouble beating Sacred Heart to end the evening.
