Disc tournament is Saturday
Almost 50 participants registered for the first Marquette Meltdown in 2019.
A week ago, about a dozen cars and trucks were parked near the Marquette disc golf course — their drivers and passengers practicing for this year’s event.
Action takes place Saturday, Aug. 29, with the first round getting underway at 10 a.m. following registration at 8:30 and a player’s meeting at 9:30.
A second round will be played after lunch. Awards will be presented as the final activity of the day.
Darren Bottom of Little River is organizer of the Meltdown. He designed the Quivira Disc Golf 18-hole Course in Marquette.
“It was a natural thing for me to host a tournament there,” he said.
Bottom also is the organizer for Ellsworth’s Run for the Soul Disc Golf Tour-nament Oct. 17 in Krizek Park.
Meltdown registration fees are: $55 for open; $45 for advanced; $35 for intermediate and $25 for recreational and junior.
