Coach Josh Homolka and his Ellsworth Bearcats Football Team began the season Friday with a 14-9 win at home against the Beloit Trojans.

Leading the scoring for the Bearcats was junior quarterback Will Cravens and junior Loden West each with one touchdown.

Wide receiver Cole Webber had 43 receiving yards in the victory, while Layton Leiker had 16 and Riley Stone, 3.

West lead the team in rushing with 45 yards, while Wyatt Bohnen had 16 yards and Josh Rodriguez, 1 yard.

Rodriguez led the team on the defensive side of the ball with six tackles, followed by West and Leiker each with five tackles.

West, Stone and Rodriguez each had a sack in the game.

Next up for the Bearcats is a match on the road against Republic County tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 8) at 7 p.m.
