Ellsworth Tennis Takes Third
Coach Eric Anderson and the Ellsworth High School Women’s Tennis Team took third Sept. 15, during the Women’s Invitational Tournament in Ellsworth.
In No. 1 Singles action, Ellsworth’s Bekah Vague finished fifth by defeating Smoky Valley in the first round, Hoisington in the second round but losing to Phillipsburg in the third round and defeating Wabaunsee for fifth place.
Ellsworth’s Charlotte Bettenbrock played as the Ellsworth X player in No. 1 Singles. She beat Chapman in the first round, but lost to Wabaunsee in the second round and Hoisinton in the third round for an eighth place finish.
In No. 2 Singles action, Ellsworth’s Felis De La Cruz took third. She beat Chapman in the first round, but lost to Sterling in the second round. De La Cruz went on to beat Hoisington and then Victoria to earn third place.
In No. 1 Doubles action, Bearcats Inarie Rippert and Calli Sheridan placed third. They defeated Victoria in the first round, but lost to Sterling in the second round. They came back to beat Hoisington and Victoria a second time for the third place finish.
In No. 2 Doubles, Ellsworth’s Sami Couch and Elena Jundt finished fourth. They beat Hoisington in the first round, lost to Smoky Valley in the second round. They went on to defeat the Ellsworth X team of Makenna Haas and Eva Neuman but lost to Chapman for fourth place.
The Ellsworth X team defeated Sterling in the first round and Wabaunsee in the second round. They lost to teammates Couch and Jundt in the third round and to Hoisington in the fourth round to take sixth place.
