Bearcats climb to 6-0 with win
The Ellsworth High School Bearcats varsity football team improved its record to 6-0 Oct. 7, with an 18-15 win on the road against the Russell Broncos.
The Bearcats were 10 for 15 through the air for 135 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. On the ground, Ellsworth had 40 carries for 127 yards and one touchdown.
Next up for the Bearcats is a 7 p.m. home game Friday at Shanelec Football Field against Halstead.
Central Plans wins at Otis-Bison
The Central Plains High School Oilers varsity football team won their first game of the season Oct. 7 on the road against the Otis-Bison Cougars. The final score was 60-14. The Oilers are now 1-5 overall and 0-0 in district play.
In the game at Otis, Central Plains ran 28 rushing plays for a total of 270 yards, averaging 9.64 yards per play.
The Oilers were 3 for 5 through the air for 69 yards and no interceptions.
As a team, Central Plains had one fumble, eight first downs and two penalties for 15 yards.
Next up for the Oilers is a 7 p.m. game Friday at Bucklin.
Sylvan Grove crushes Wilson 46-0
The Sylvan Grove Mustangs handily defeated the Wilson Dragons 46-0 at Sylvan Grove Oct. 7. The 1-5 Dragons next take on the 0-6 Otis-Bison Cougars at 7 p.m. Friday at home in Wilson.
