RUSSELL — The Ellsworth girls’ wrestling team competed at the KSHAA 3-2-1 A Regional West Tournament in Russell Feb. 14-15 where they placed 24th out of 30 teams and advanced senior Riley Rodriguez and sophomore Sophie Homolka to the state tournament.

Homolka wrestled in the 145-lb. weight bracket and took sixth place. She earned 18 points for the team.

Rodriguez wrestled in the 190-lb. weight bracket and took fourth place.

She earned 7 points for the team.

Senior Danica Hicks wrestled in the 115-lb. weight bracket. She earned 4 points for the team.

The state tournament takes place Feb. 28-March 1 at Gross Memorial Coliseum at Fort Hays State University, Hays.
