On Oct. 6, the Ellsworth High School Bearcats varsity volleyball team increased their overall record to 16-9 (NCAA Record 6-2) after competing in the Central Plains Triangular.

In play against Smoky Valley, Ellsworth lost the first game 25-11 and the second game, 25-20.

The Bearcats lost their first game against Central Plains 25-23, won the second game 25-10, and also the third game 26-24.

Leading the statistics for the Bearcat varsity were:

• Aces — Ryan Tenbrink, 3; Peyton Coonrod, 2; Elyse Haxton, 2.

• Assists — Kylan Turnipseed, 50.

• Kills — Elyse Haxton, 15; Rylan Ohl, 11; Alexis Moore, 10; Isabelle Lindsley, 9; and Greta Klein, 8.

• Stuff Blocks — Alexis Moore, 3; Greta Klein, 2.

• Digs — Isabelle Lindsley, 24; Peyton Coonrod, 23; Elyse Haxton, 17.

Ellsworth’s Junior Varsity increased their overall record to 15-4. The Bearcats lost their two games against Smoky Valley, 25-21 and 25-17, but rallied to win their two games against Central Plains, 25-20 and 25-11.

On Oct. 4, Ellsworth hosted Beloit for senior night.

The Bearcats varsity team lost all four games against Beloit: 25-22, 25-16, 25-20 and 25-16.

• Digs — Peyton Coonrod, 14; Elyse Haxton, 11; and Lexi West, 9.

The Bearcats Junior Varsity lost the first game against Beloit, 25-23, won the second, 25-20, and the third, 15-12. They lost the fourth 25-21, but rallied to win the fifth and sixth games, 25-17 and 15-10.
