Lady Dragons continue win streak
The Wilson Dragon basketball teams traveled to Lincoln to face the Leopards Dec. 16.
The Lady Dragons took the floor first against the 2-3 Leopards. The first quarter started a little rough with Wilson being down by one, 10-11.
The second quarter really started the roll, with the Lady Dragons holding Lincoln to only 3 points while putting up 19 for themselves, making the score 29-14 at the end of the half.
Coming out of halftime, the Dragons kept the energy to make the score 38-21 to finish the third quarter.
During the fourth quarter Lincoln put on a press, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Lady Dragons, making the final score 45-29 favoring the purple.
Junior Anna Thielen lead the effort for Wilson with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Putting up a double-double was sophomore Serenity Steinike with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Sophomore Tyra Meyer added 6 points and 7 rebounds. Rounding out the score was senior Cara Criswell with 4 points and 6 rebounds, along with sophomore Abby Dlabal with 2 points. Sophomores Hallie Thielen contributed 3 rebounds and Aliva Koch took a charge.
Friday was the last game for the Lady Dragons as they head to winter break with a 5-0 record. They play at Natoma Jan. 4.
The Wilson Dragons boys’ team also started their own win streak, defeating the Linoln Leopards 39-33. This improves the Dragons’ record to 3-2 as they head into winter break. Their next action will be against the Natoma Wildcats Jan. 4.
