Oilers compete at LaCrosse Invitational

The Central Plains boys’ and girls’ track teams collected several firstplace medals as well as placed several Oilers in the top-10 Thursday, March 28, at the LaCrosse invitational.

In only its second meet of the year, Central Plains faced off against nine other teams. Larned won the boys’ varsity title with 124 points. Plainville finished in second, while Ellis took third place.

Central Plains finished in 10th place with 20 points.

On the girls’ side, Plainville swept the invitational with 107 points, followed by Ellis in second with 79 points and Ness City in third with 72 points.

Central Plains finished in eighth place with 27 points.

Freshman Cole Lamatsch took first place in the 1600-meter and 3200-meter boys’ races. Lamatsch finished the mile run in 5:21.54, and the two-mile run in 11:20.85.

The 4x800 relay team of Amelia Bailey, Hannah Redetzke, Monica Short and Callie Zink took first place for the girls. The team finished with a time of 11:49.20.
