Bourbon, Anderson place sixth at state tennis

On May 12 and 13, doubles partners, senior Chase Bourbon and junior Brendan Anderson, competed in the state tennis tournament at Riverside Park, Wichita, taking sixth place.

During the first day of matches, the pair went 2-1 for the day.

In their first match they won 6-0, 6-2 over Central Plains No. 2.

Continuing the momentum, they won their second match 6-3, 6-3 over Wichita Collegiate.

In their last game of the day, the two lost 1-6, 1-6 to Kansas City Christian.

On May 13, the doubles partners played another three matches for the day, going 2-1.

The first match of the day was 9-4 over Marysville.

During the second match, Bourbon and Anderson won 9-5 over Scott City.

They lost their last match of their day 5-9 to Wichita Collegiate.

“Making it to state was expected — that’s something I’ve done each year I’ve played for coach Anderson,” Bourbon said. “However, getting to the second day and placing sixth feels like the perfect cap to my senior season. Me and Brendan have worked our tails off to get here, and it feels great to cap off my senior season with a medal.”
