Victoria defeats the Wilson Dragons 50-34

The Wilson High School Dragons Varsity Football Team went down in defeat Oct. 9 at Victoria, 50-34.

Offensively, Wilson ran 60 plays for 326 total yards. The Dragons passed for 122 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. Wilson was 5 of 8 through the air and averaged 24.4 yards per pass.

Dragon rushers ran the ball for 204 yards on 52 plays, gaining 3.9 yards per carry.

Wilson receivers had four completions, averaging 24.4 yards per catch

The Dragons had four penalties for 30 yards and three turnovers as well as three fumbles. Wilson had 19 first downs and was 9 for 14 in third down conversions as well as 2 for 4 in fourth down conversions.

In the first quarter, Wilson’s Cooper Weinhold ran for a four yard touch down. However the two point conversion pass was no good.

Weinhold then scampered for an 18 yard touchdown. Once again, the two point conversion pass was no good.

In the second quarter, Wilson’s Camryn Eberhart completed a 15 yard pass play to James Huck for a touchdown. The conversion attempt was no good.

Eberhart then completed a 59 yard pass to Weinhold for a touchdown. This time the conversion attempt was good.

In the third quarter, Eberhart once again found pay dirt with a eight yard run for a touchdown. The conversion attempt was good.

Victoria dominated the fourth quarter scoring, with the Knights recovering a Dragon fumble at the 1:31 mark to seal the victory for Victoria.

Next up for Coach Tony Brokes and his Dragons is a district game against Sylvan-Lucas at 7 p.m. Friday at Sylvan Grove.
