Bob Powers expects his Wilson cross country team to earn a trip to Wamego this season. “[We have a] good chance of making it back to state,” said Powers, who is in his fourth year as head coach.“Totally dependent on how hard the kids want to work.” Lost to graduation from the 2018 team were Ethan Dlabal and Kaleigh Hanzlick. Returning will be Macy Hanzlick, who placed 27th at state in 2018. Returning on the boys’ side are John Criswell, Charlie Hlad and Zach Corpus. Promising newcomers include freshman Cara Criswell. Powers expects the Lincoln girls could repeat as state champions. The Lady Leopards return most of their squad from 2018. Wilson’s season opens at 3 p.m. today (Thursday) at Tescott.
