Holyrood Legion plans observance
Mindful of the social distancing restrictions caused by the COVID-19 crisis, members of the Holyrood American Legion Post 200 plan a private, low key, observance on Memorial Day.
The observance will not be open to the public, however.
Gary Wilkens, Holyrood American Legion commander, said a couple of members of the post simply plan to raise the American flag on Memorial Day at the former site of the Holyrood American Legion, then read the names of deceased veterans. No other activities are planned.
Claflin Memorial Day plans canceled
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the annual Memorial Day observance in Claflin has been canceled.
Veteran Red Meier of the former Ralph B. Praeger Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8668 in Claflin, suggests residents in Claflin take a few minutes on Memorial Day to remember all those who sacrificed for our freedoms.
