SPARK funds approved for distribution

By
Alan Rusch

Distribution of funds to those who were accepted under the Ellsworth County SPARK fund program for COVID mitigation was approved by the Ellsworth County commissioners Monday during their weekly meeting.

Sarah Goss, the administrator of the $1.2 million SPARK program for the county, said payroll is not included in that motion because she wants to check to make sure of the protocol and that it is being documented correctly first.

“There has been some additional updates and changes,” she said. “I think we’re going to be able to use the money for payroll, I just want to make sure we do it right.”

“You so far have done a good job,” Commissioner Kermit Rush said.

“We’re going to have some happy people this week,” said Stacie Schmidt of Ellsworth County Economic Development.

In other business:

• Jeremiah Brown of the county EMS, informed commissioners that one of his technicians, Derek Walter, had resigned.

Walter is also the director of the Lincoln County EMS.
