Ellsworth Junior-Senior High School senior Jordyn Coonrod is the 2020 recipient of the Smoky Hill Chapter of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution Good Citizen scholarship.

Coonrod is the daughter of Eric and Stephanie Coonrod.

The award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess good citizenship qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities. The individuals are selected by their teachers and peers.

Each year, the Smoky Hill Chapter of the DAR hosts a Good Citizen Tea in recognition of the recipient. However, due to the circumstances caused by the COVID-19 virus, this year’s tea had to be cancelled.

To commemorate this time in the history of the world, the nation and local events, many DAR members wrote Coonrod a letter that included that member’s history with Ellsworth and a short autobiography. Instead of the tea, DAR member Christy Rathbun met Coonrod and her family recently in Krizek Park where Coonrod was presented with the Good Citizen pin and scholastic award.
