County continues to hear budget requests
More budget requests for 2023 were received Monday by Ellsworth County commissioners during their weekly meeting. Theresa Richards and
Theresa Richards and Mike Slechta of the Ellsworth Senior Center requested $50,000 for 2023 — $5,000 more than the $45,000 they requested in 2022.
Sheriff Murray Marston requested $1,357,711 for 2023 — a 7.38 percent ($110,618.47) increase from the $1,387,711 requested for 2022.
In other business:
• Commissioners signed an agreement with Saline County to share dietician Virginia Soukup for the Supplemental Nutrition Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program. The request to sign the agreement was made by Kerianne Ehrlich, supervisor of the Ellsworth County Health Department. She said Soukup works the first and second Fridays of the month in Ellsworth.
• No action was taken after a five minute executive session with Shelly Vopat, county clerk, to discuss non-elected personnel (the Family Medical Leave Act).
• Shelly Soukup, a Democrat, and Melissa Taylor, a Republican, were appointed to be present on the day Vopat destroys expired ballots as per state statute.
The next meeting of the Ellsworth County commissioners will be at 9 a.m. Monday, June 27, at the county courthouse.
