County discusses new drug testing policy, IT services
An hour meeting with the county department heads highlighted Monday’s meeting of the Ellsworth County Commission.
Two topics were discussed — information technology and adding a post incident section to the county’s drug testing policy.
Concerning the drug testing policy, the concensus was that it needs to be added to the employee handbook.
Every employee will also need to be given the written policy in person. Kerianne Ehrlich, supervisor of the county health department, said she might have a solution to the rising cost of employee drug testing.
She is researching what it would take collecting the urine sample at the health department and sending it to Compliance One in Topeka for analysis.
She will explore more information and report back to the commissioners.
The focus of updating the county’s information technology would be security and selecting one IT company to service all departments in the county. Each department head was asked to provide the commissioners dollar figures on what they spent for IT services in the past two years for comparision.
