County to improve security

Security is being strengthened at the Ellsworth County Courthouse.

At Monday’s meeting of the Ellsworth County commissioners, approval was given to the purchase of five 360-degree security cameras from H&B Communications, Holyrood, at a cost of $8,251.83.

One camera will be placed at each of the four exterior corners of the courthouse and the fifth camera will be placed at the inside front entrance.

In other business:

• Commissioners signed off on a memorandum of understanding with the Ellsworth County Sheriff ’s Office on ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funding.

 

• Grow Ellsworth County Executive Director Stacie Schmidt introduced her new assistant director, Kayla Timms.

 

• A request from County Road and Bridge Department secretary Roberta Waymaster to pay a $424.25 bill for IT services from Wilson Communications was approved. The funds will be taken from the county computer upgrade fund.

• No action was taken after a five-minute executive session to discuss non-elected personnel (Federal Medical Leave Act).

 

• Payment of membership dues to the Kansas County Commissioners Association in the amount of $358 was approved.

 

• Approval was given to have the county pay any cost for the spouse of commissioners who attend all commission-sponsored meetings of the Kansas Association of Counties.

The next meeting of the Ellsworth County commissioners will be at 9 a.m. Monday, March 13, at the county courthouse.
