Cover crops and grazing workshop set
Two soils specialists will headline a workshop March 25 and March 26 at Salina’s Hilton Garden Inn.
Candy Thomas works in Kansas and Nebraska and Stan Boltz specialists in conditions in North Dakota and South Dakota. Both work for the National Resources and Conservation Service.
The two will provide agronomic advice on soil health indicators, cover crops, water quality resource issues, erosion control and training in conservation planning and management systems.
Registration opens at 8 a.m. both days, followed by the program from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants can attend one or both days. Cost is $30 per day.
Day One topics include introduction to plant science, soil health forages and grazing systems —101.
On the Day Two agenda will be improving the health and performance of soil, crops and livestock by managing farming practices, forage selection and livestock and grazing.
