Detention pond options to be explored

At the Aug. 16 meeting of the Krizek Park Advisory Committee, Brian Foster of BG Consultants gave a presentation on what it would cost to fill the detention basin at Krizek Park. That cost would be $708,404.25.
According to Ellsworth City Administrator Dustin Stambaugh, the discussion evolved from there into one of looking at other options for possible detention ponds.
“We’re trying to think outside of the box,” Stambaugh said.
Stambaugh was tasked by the committee with looking at the possibility of constructing a drainage detention pond at the southeast end of the Ellsworth Airport as a way to possibly increase the city’s storage space.
He said it is important to remember, however, that any solution is going to take time.
