ECMC names new CEO
Kenny Beneda, Chairman of the Ellsworth County Medical Center Board of Trustees, is pleased announced June 9 is pleased to announce the selection of James ( Jim) Kirkbride as the new chief executive officer.
An experienced leader in the healthcare industry, Kirkbride will succeed Andrew Bair and assume responsibilities on July 19.
Just short of three years as CEO, Bair will be moving out of state for another opportunity. The next board of Directors meeting is scheduled for June 23, at which time an interim CEO will be appointed. This individual will be a member of the executive team and will serve as interim CEO between June 24 and July 18. Jim was selected for an on-site
Jim was selected for an on-site visit after completing a phone screening with Human Resources and a virtual interview with the CEO Search Committee. The Search Committee consisted of two board members, two members of medical staff, and the executive team. While in town the last week of May, Jim and his wife, Shannon, traveled to Ellsworth where Jim participated in interviews and they had an opportunity to tour the community. The executive team, leadership team, and medical staff interviewed Jim while he was here.
Jim, currently of Sierra Vista, Ariz., grew up in Chapman, just east of Abilene.
He and his wife have three adult sons. In his spare time, he enjoys old cars, home projects and most things outdoors.
Jim has had a long career in healthcare management, including leadership at the department, executive, and CEO level. Most recently, he served in a leadership role at Canyon Vista Medical Center in Sierra Vista, Ariz., as well as, was the acting planning and logistics’ chief for Incident Command during the pandemic.
Prior to moving to Arizona, Jim was the CEO at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado. He has a clinical background as a radiologic technologist and has had varied leadership roles leading ancillary and support services. With over 30 years of experience, Jim is confident in his ability as he accepts the responsibility of CEO at Ellsworth County Medical Center. He looks forward to using his accomplishments to further our legacy of “Improving Lives.” He is a servant leader at heart and values the contributions of every employee. He believes it takes everyone at all levels to accomplish our mission, vision, and values. He states, “There is a lot of talent at ECMC and I humbly accept this opportunity with pride and excitement to become a member of the ECMC team,” he said.
Kirkbride wishes to thank the hospital board, members of the selection committee and employees of ECMC who dedicated their time during the CEO search process.
“Your gracious welcome of Shannon and I was an example of the hospitality each patient must feel when they receive care at ECMC,” he said.
ECMC will host a community welcome reception/open house in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Kirkbride shortly after their arrival to Ellsworth.
