EMS plans to install 9 more AEDS throughout county
More 2024 budget requests were received by the Ellsworth County Commission Monday at their weekly meeting.
The Ellsworth County Council on Aging submitted a request for 2024 of $32,800 — 2.5 percent ($800) more than the $32,000 it received for 2023.
The County Register of Deeds submitted a 2024 budget request of $126,500 — an increase from the $106,000 received for 2023.
In other business:
• No action was taken after returning from a 10-minute executive session to discuss nonelected personnel (employees) with County Register of Deeds Sue Arensman.
• Approval was given for the county to support the cities in Ellsworth County applying for the Safe Streets For All grant program.
• County Emergency Medical Service Director Nathan Florian said he has hired one full-time and one part-time employee. Those hires bring the EMS back to being fully-staffed.
Florian said he plans to install nine more AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) in the county this week. He noted there are now 34 publicly accessible AEDs in the county, not including the nine he plans to install.
• Approval was given to an engagement letter with Lindburg, Vogel, Pierce, Faris for an alternative compliance examination for the county.
County Clerk Shelly Vopat said this is necessary due to the county receiving too many grant funds in 2022.
The next meeting of the Ellsworth County Commission will be at 9 a.m. Monday, June 5, at the county courthouse.
