PUBLIC SALE
John Rezabek is advertising all his household goods to be sold at public sale this coming Saturday. Judging from the buyers’ response at other sales of a similar kind, Mr. Rezabek’s goods should sell well.

WHEAT PRICE IS UP
The local wheat market which has hung around the 79 cents a bushel mark for the past week has in the last few days advanced to 83 cents. This will be good news to our farmers.

OBITUARY
Mrs. Josephine Lovci
Josephine Hubka was born on her parents’ farm, east of Wilson, in 1867, and died in Wichita last Saturday, at the age of 66 years. She was married to John Lovci of Wichita and lived in different places, but for the last nineteen years their home has been in Wichita.
Funeral services were held in Wichita and then her remains were brought to her father’s home, Frank Hubka, east of Wilson, Tuesday, and from there a short burial service was held, and she was interred in the Wilson Catholic cemetery.
Mrs. Lovci being born and raised in the Wilson community, naturally has a lot of friends here who lament her passing away. She was a sister of John, and Frank Hubka, Jr., Mrs. Barbara Bachura, and Mrs. Joe A. Vopat.
She left to mourn her loss a loving husband, three children, Mary, Anton, and Joseph, and the following stepchildren: John Adolph, Mrs. Madeline Vopat, Mrs. Frances Hula, and Mrs. Katy Vopat.

TONY HRABIK WRECKED CAR FRIDAY
Tony Hrabik, daughters Ruth and Faye, and son Joe, figured in an accident west of town Friday when their car left the highway, turning over two or three times. Miss Ruth reveived some serious burns, Tony was cut up about the face, but the other two occupants of the car were not hurt. The accident happened west of town near the Lou Brown farm.

COUNTY POOR ADMINISTRATOR HIRED
The new board of county poor commissioners in a meeting at Ellsworth Monday, hired William “Buck” Vanek of Ellsworth as the new county poor administrator. Vanek is a graduate of Kansas State Teachers College at Pittsburg, and while there was one of the school’s outstanding athletes. The county this next year will spend $50,000 on the poor.

WORK IS RUSHED
Work on the new country home of Joseph Sebesta is being rushed to completion. Fred Karban, local contractor, who has the job, is employing seven carpenters. Mr. Sebesta lost his home recently by fire and he hopes to be in his new home early this fall.

ELECT OFFICERS
The Wilson Post of the American Legion met Monday night and elected officers for the coming year. Dr. Gray W. Cooney was elected Post Commander; Clarence Nesmith, Vice Commander; Roy Munson, Adjutant; Maj. J. B. Carter, Historian; Fred Bunker, Sergeant.
Post Commander Dr. Cooney appointed the following delegates and alternates to the state convention to be held in Salina, Monday, Sept. 4th: M. Schwarz, Dr. Cooney, Rich Zeman, and Wm. Shanelec. He also appointed Rev. John McManus, Chaplain and W. F. Magill, Service Officers.
The Post plans to have the High School band and a Bohemian band in Salina for the convention.

WESELY’S ON VISIT TO OREGON
James Wesely and daughters left Saturday morning, driving to Portland, Salem, and Scio, Oregon, to visit Mr. Wesely’s mother and several brothers and sisters, all of whom formerly lived here for many years in Kansas, and conducted a general merchandise store at Palacky. They were one of the pioneer families of this part of Kansas. Many years ago the family moved to Oregon where they have resided ever since.

FIRST ANNIVERSARY
The Albert Burmeister Grocery is celebrating its first anniversary this week. This popular store was opened a year ago this week when Mr. Burmeister moved to Wilson from Ellsworth, and the store has enjoyed a good patronage from its inception.

A GOOD STATEMENT
The Wilson State Bank is running the report of their financial condition as called for on July 31st. It is a good statement, there being no money due other banks and no rediscounts. The deposits are holding up unusually well considering the fact that so little wheat has been sold up to this time.

SUFFERS ANOTHER STROKE
Grandma Novak suffered another stroke Friday. She had the first stroke just a year ago, and has been confined to her bed more or less ever since. She was 92 years old the 24th of last month. She is at the home of her son, F. J. Novak.

HELEN MAGILL INJURED
Last Wednesday evening little Helen Magill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Magill, received some minor injuries when caught between two cars at the ball park.
She and her father were walking over to the park to witness the softball game which was in progress and were given a lift by Frank Rezabek in his car. They both got on the running board as the distance was short. As Mr. Rezabek was parking his car Joseph Peterka started to back out of line with his car and Helen was caught between the two cars. She is recovering nicely from the brusing up she received.

MILLER-BRADY
Miss Helen Miller of Russell and Mr. Melvin Brady were united in marriage by Rev. Wm. J. Lind, at eleven o’clock, Saturday, August 5th, at the home of the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Brady. Others present were Hester Miller and Elmer Miller, sister and brother of the the bride. A lovely dinner was served. Mr. and Mrs. Brady left for Dodge City. Mrs. Brady is fairly well know here, and Melvin is a graduate of the Dorrance high school and is favorably well known. He is a member of the Kings Rhythm Orchestra of Hays, and the orchestra broadcasts from Dodge City over radio.
Mr. and Mrs. Brady left Monday for a trip to Denver, Colorado, and will make their home in Russell. Best wishes are extended to this fine young couple for a long, happy, and prosperous wedded life.

LAVERNE VLCEK DIES
LaVerne Vlcek, daughter of Mrs. Joe Kaitman of Geneseo, passed away at the Ellsworth hospital at the age of 18 years, 8 months, and 9 days. Her death was caused by enlargement of the heart, from which affliction she has suffered for the past four or five years. Her home was in Wilson for years, her parents moving to Geneseo only a few years ago.
Funeral services were held in Ellsworth Monday.
