Fire gutted a garage, but no injuries were reported during an Aug. 4 blaze at 221 N. Court Ave. in Ellsworth.
Firefighters were dispatched at about 2:30 p.m. following the report of an explosion and fire on the property owned by Eric Buchholz and Cara Dailey. Firefighters arrived quickly, as the scene of the fire was a little over a block north of the Ellsworth Fire Station.
Ellsworth Fire Chief Ralph Doubrava said residents who reported the fire described a muffled explosion.
Doubrava said firefighters found the roof of the garage had partially collapsed. The garage, which was located behind a house near the alley, was engulfed in flames.
Doubrava said the house was damaged by heat exposure.
Firefighters returned to the scene the next day after receiving a report of the remains of the garage smouldering.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
