Freemans fill community need with Ellsworth car wash

Though they’re just a week in, Clint and Sarah Freeman are feeling the excitement of seeing their new business venture already filling a need for Ellsworth County residents.

The Kanopolis couple opened K & K Car Wash on June 18, after launching their plans a year ago, Sarah said. Construction crews broke ground in March next door to the family business, Freeman’s Body Shop, at 504 Evans St.

“It’s been a long process,” she said. “There was a great need in our community. We didn’t have a car wash, and we had the space.”

Sarah teaches at Ellsworth Elementary, and Clint, who previously served as head coach of the Ellsworth High School wrestling team, currently mentors young wrestlers through the Ellsworth County Kids Wrestling club.

The car wash offers an automatic wash bay, featuring a rotating brushless system, which cleans vehicle surfaces using detergent and a high-pressure spray/rinse process. Customers can select from three wash options, ranging in price from $8 – $12. Two additional self-serve bays offer highpressure sprayers and cleaning options for customers. One of the bays is covered, while the other is open to better accommodate larger vehicles. Two vacuum stations are also planned to be installed by the business’ upcoming grandopening event during Fourth of July weekend. Delays caused by COVID-19 held up their arrival, Sarah said.

To celebrate K & K’s opening, a grand-opening event is planned for Friday, July 3, at the business, 508 Evans St. in Ellsworth. A ribbon-cutting kicks off festivities at 8 p.m. followed by food, fun and fireworks.

More information on K & K Car Wash and the grand-opening event can be found on the business’ Facebook page or by calling (785) 531-2001.
