Mental health services are available to Ellsworth County residents:

• Central Plains Mental Health Center, Salina, (800) 794-8281. A therapist from the center, which covers Ellsworth and other central Kansas counties, visits Ellsworth two times a week.

• High Plains Mental Health Center, Hays, has a crisis hot line, (800) 432-0333. The National Suicide Preventiion Lifeline is (800) 273-TALK (8255).

• The Ellsworth County Extension Service also has pamphlets and other information available on a table in the basement hallway of the Ellsworth County Courthouse.

• The Extension service, in partnership with the Ellsworth County Medical Center and Central Kansas Mental Health, plans a Mental Health First Aid class from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, in the ECMC Administrative Building conference room.

Registration should include name, telephone number, e-mail address and $5 (checks payable to ckmhc).
