HAPPY NEW YEAR! We hope each and every one of you had a very merry Christmas and wishing you a healthy, happy and blessed 2020!
Wow, 2020 — you’d think we should be getting around in flying cars by now, wouldn’t you? Kind of like the Jetsons. Oh well, I always kind of thought that looked a little dangerous; I like to keep my feet on the ground.
The decorations are down and Lois [Lichtfuss] is gone [retired] which is very sad but the decorations will be back and so will Lois as she will step in and help out when we need her. So no tears here — we are moving on and looking ahead to our reading challenge.
Come in and get your list for “The Winter Reading Destination”. Pick a book off the list and get transported to another destination. To learn more about it come in and get the list that has all the information on it. You could win the prize or two.
“Fresh Start” had its first meeting Jan. 6. We will meet from 5–6 p.m. the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. This is a great time to get involved in this program; you will have a voice in what direction we take. At this time, it is our very own “life support” — we are here to support each other and find our own groove in this journey we call life. We accept each other’s flaws and imperfections while encouraging each other to pursue growth and balance. Come join us and find out what we are all about. We’d love to have you.
Recipe club starts again on the 3rd Thursday of the month ( Jan. 16) at noon. The theme is “Hometown Cooking”. Your recipe has to be out of a local cookbook. It can be one we have here or one that you have at home. Just bring the book with you if you use your own, so we can make a copy.
The “Page Turner” book club is starting back on the at 3 p.m. on the 3rd Sunday of the month ( Jan. 19). We are reading “This Life I Live” by Rory Lee Feek. We have some available if you would like to read it and join us for a lively discussion. Anyone is welcome and if you can’t make it each time that’s ok — we’ll take you when we can get you. Come have a good time with us.
Watch for an ancestory.com workshop coming Feb.
8. Cathy Rippel will start us out by showing us what ancestory.com is capable of and then you will be let loose on the computers to try it out.
Feb. 22 is De-stress Saturday. Who needs to destress with me? We will be doing different activities that will help us learn to relax and de-stress. It’s a new year let’s start it out and continue it a little more relaxed. There will be flyers available at the library, on our website (ellsworthlib.org) and our facebook page.
You might also keep in mind that the Goodwill ITlearn Digital Skills Classroom bus is coming back March 5. If you missed it the first time, this is your chance to get in on the learning. There will be three classes throughout the day so come in and learn more if interested. You can also get your name on the list now; there are a limited number of seats available.
Again, we are hoping that your 2020 is blessed with good health, lots of happiness and plenty of good books.
Happy Reading!
