News from cover to cover
Can you believe it is February 2020? I’m afraid to blink — time is going so fast. People, enjoy your lives, be the best you can be now, don’t put off what you enjoy till tomorrow because tomorrow will be gone and in the past and it will be too late!
Of course, you do realize that enjoying life includes coming to the library, right? Come in, find a good book or magazine, get a cup of coffee and sit in front of the fire where it is nice and warm! We also have started a puzzle you can work, puzzle books or coloring books available. We have something enjoyable for you to do and what better way to wait for the warm weather to get here?
You are not reading this to listen to me babble, so here is what is happening here other than good books, movies and audios.
The Page Turners Book Club is back in full swing. We read the book “Where’d you Go Bernadette” for our meeting Feb. 16. We are averaging about eight or nine people each time, but would love to include you too!
Our Winter Reading Destination Challenge is still ongoing. It ends March 2. Pick a book off our list and get transported to another destination. You could still join in and win a prize!
The Recipe Club, the 3rd Thursday of the month, is enjoying their recipes. In February we did “gift in a jar” recipes. The idea was to bring a gift in a jar and also make your recipe in a jar. We share the ones you make and we have a valentine’s exchange with the jars. Everyone goes home with a surprise jar! March will be “your family favorite”. Come join in and share your family’s favorite dish. We’d love to see you.
We are working with Stacie Schmidt (Ellsworth County Economic Development) and will have someone available to help you with filling your census online The schedule is:
• 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. March 19
• 1-3 p.m. March 20
• 4-6 p.m. March 23
• 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. March 24
• 1-3 p.m. March 25
We hope we are able to accommodate everyone’s schedules.
I’m going to give you a sneak peak into April because I am really excited about this event. On April 4, Phung and Dan will come and demonstrate cooking a fourcourse Thai meal including an appetizer, soup, main dish and dessert. You will enjoy a tasting of each course, Thai cultural anecdotes and learn how to “go to market” in Kansas to recreate their tasty dishes at home. The cost is $35 per person and we have to limit it to 10 people. We already have people signed up so get your name into the library if you are interested.
Last but not least don’t forget to come to our movie at 1:15 p.m. the 1st Wednesday of the month (March 4). Come enjoy a movie, free popcorn and each other’s company.
We also have ancestry.com for anyone to help with their genealogy and you can now go overseas in your search. You can also print 35 mm slides or put them on a zip drive. Pretty cool!
I’m trying to stuff a lot of reminders into a small area and its taxing my brain. So, if you want to know more about what we have here for you, well ... come see us!
With that, I bid you ado and Happy Reading!
