Man charged with four felony counts in child rape case
A four-count felony criminal complaint was filed May 12 in Ellsworth County District Court by Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt and Assistant Attorney General Melissa Johnson charging a man in relation to a child rape investigation in Ellsworth County.
According to the complaint obtained from the office of the Ellsworth County clerk of the district court, Dalton Eberhart is charged with two counts of rape, one count of aggravated intimidation of a witness, and one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor for illicit purpose.
The complaint alleges that on or about June 12, 2019, Eberhart gave a cereal malt beverage to a child under the age of 14, who is identified in the complaint only by initials and a birth year of 2006, The complaint further alleges Eberhart had sex with the child twice, and attempted to prevent or dissuade the child from reporting it.
Eberhardt made his first appearance May 21 in Ellsworth County District Court. He is being represented by Ellsworth attorney Bradley Steen.
A status hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23.
