HOLYROOD — Residents of Holyrood had more questions than answers Monday as to the identity of John O. Glenn III, 56, Great Bend, whose recent death is being investigated by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation as “suspicious.”

Glenn was found unconscious the morning of Jan. 23 outside a home at 104 W. Olds Ave. in Holyrood after deputies from the Ellsworth County Sheriff ’s Office and EMS were called there by a resident. EMS transported Glenn, who was later identified, to an area hospital where he died in the early morning hours of Jan. 24.

An autopsy was conducted and the preliminary autopsy results raised concerns that Glenn may have died under suspicious circumstances, according to a KBI news release issued Thursday, Jan. 30.

That was the same day the KBI and the Ellsworth County Sheriff ’s Office conducted several search warrants in Ellsworth County related to the investigation.

On Monday, the I-R talked with several Holyrood residents about the case. They said the town was quiet and none of them knew Glenn.

Holyrood Police Chief David Chamberlain referred the I-R to the KBI. Phone messages to the KBI have not been returned.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the KBI at 1-800-KS-CRIME, or the Ellsworth County Sheriff ’s Office at (785) 472-4416. Tips can also be submitted online at https://www.kbi.ks.gov/sar.
