THINGS TO KNOW
• Ellsworth County Medical Center has the ability to test for the flu and the coronavirus. Those with symptoms listed below will be tested for the flu first, then the coronavirus if tnecessary. The results of the flu test take an hour. If testing for the coronavirus takes place, the sample will be sent to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Those results take a couple of days.
• First and foremost, don’t panic.
• Second, if you have been traveling in a known hot spot in the world, register a fever of more than 100.4 degrees, have a cough and are having trouble breathing, call — don’t come to — ECMC. Instead, make an appointment to be tested for the flu. If that test comes back negative and you still have symptoms, you will be given a test for the coronavirus.
• When you arrive at ECMC to be tested, you will be required to wear a mask.
• Visitation to both the Good Samaritan Society Ellsworth Village nursing home and the Wilson Care and Rehabilitation has been restricted.
