USD 327 approves Rice County plan

The Ellsworth-Kanopolis-Geneseo USD 327 board of education approved a motion during an Oct. 27 special meeting at the district office in Ellsworth to enter into another five-year neighborhood revitalization plan with Rice County.

Joshua Lanning, superintendent, said the current agreement ends Dec. 31 and includes the southern most portion of the district along K-4 Highway, which passes through Geneseo.

During an special early morning Zoom meeting Oct. 26, members of the Central Plains USD 112 board of education approved an agreement with the City of Bushton to use the gymnasium at the former Central Plains Middle School building for junior high school basketball practice.

The board also approved a resolution correcting land ownership records by quitclaim deed.

Board attorney John Sherman said when USD 328 and USD 354 consolidated, deeds were drawn to transfer land ownership to USD 112.

Sherman noted the deed to USD 112 contained the descriptions of several lots he believed were once owned by USD 328 but are now owned by individuals.

One of the individuals is selling the property. Therefore, the district needs to prepare a quit claim deed from the district to the owner, so the new buyer knows they have a good title.

The resolution corrects the records and allowed Brad Schiermeyer, board president, to sign quitclaim deeds.

The properties involved are: Lots 1, 2 and 3 in Block 6 in McKenzie’s First Addition and Lots 3, 4, 5 and 6 in Block Three 3, in McKenzie’s First Addition, in the City of Wilson.

Finally, no action was taken after a 10-minute executive session to discuss non-elected personnel (discipline).
