USD 327 moves forward with proposed projects

The Ellsworth-Kanopolis-Geneseo School Board met Monday, March 9, and discussed several projects for school improvement. Among them:

The fence around the playground at Ellsworth Elementary School was approved for cleaning and painting.

The Ellsworth Junior/Senior High School gym will be getting new basketball goals.

The district will also plans to purchase a reel mower from the city.

. School board members also approved the purchase of a dough-type skeleton for anatomy and physiology. The kit comes with a skeleton and different colors of dough for each system to help students build their own replicas and have hands-on experiences.

Superintendent Dale Brungardt is looking into a new play structure at Kanopolis Middle School for students to enjoy at recess.

Brungardt is also looking at options for replacing the floor in the commons area at EJSHS.

The phones at KMS and EES are out of date and need an intercom system. The new system will be placed out for bid.

Catspride gave the wrestling and track programs monetary gifts. The wrestling program received $203.45 and the track program received $495.

District technology director Tina Bruning plans to retire later this year and the district has decided to contract out all of its IT services to a company called K12ICT. The change will consist of a one time start-up fee and an annual fee. The company will take care of all the schools IT issues.

Congratulations to state wrestling qualifiers and placers: Teagon Nienke, Tyler Romero, Brendan Tripp — also a 6th place medalist, Tyler Watford — 4th place medalist.

Hansen Foundation Scholarships:

Hayden Rogers was named one of the 10 Leaders of Tomorrow recipients ($10,000 renewable for three additional years).
