Water tower base sustains damage
LORRAINE — Damage to the base of the city water tower was discussed during the July 15 meeting of the Lorraine City Council.
Jessica Bowlby, city clerk, said three inspections found no structural damage to the water tower, but the concrete base sustained damage. The damage was either caused by a mower hitting the base or someone intentionally hitting the base with a sledgehammer.
Larry Klug, city maintenance officer, will seal the concrete for winter.

• The council discussed how to spend the $19,266.74 it will receive from the American Rescue Plan Act. It was suggested the funds be put toward payment of draining the water tower or sealing the tower’s concrete base. Council member Peter Solie will ask Stacie Schmidt of Ellsworth County Economic Development to help with the plan paperwork.
