Incumbent Troy Waymaster (R-Bunker Hill) will serve another two-year term as 109th District State Representative in the Kansas House of Representatives.

Waymaster defeated a general election challenge by Libertarian candidate Peter Solie of Lorraine in Ellsworth County, 1,723 to 403 in the Nov. 8 election. District-wide, Waymaster received 7,609 votes (85 percent), with Solie receiving 1,304 votes (15 percent).

“I just want to thank the individuals in Ellsworth County who voted for me,” Waymaster said in a telephone interview with the Independent-Reporter. “I look forward to serving Ellsworth County in the next legislative session.”

“I’m disappointed at the loss,” Solie said. “I’m not disappointed at the effort I put in the race, my volunteers and the financial support of my backers.”
