The Sept. 8 meeting of the Wilson City Council began with updates from the city’s board of health.

Joshua Tipton, Wilson Police chief and head of the health board, said Western Sales Company has removed the violations from 2115 Ave. C. However, Jeff Keith, public compliance officer, said he served inoperable vehicle violations on that property with a deadline of Sept. 18.

Several other properties and vehicle cases were reported on. The council gave the owner of the vehicle at 616 24th St. an extension until Sept. 17. The same extension was given to the owner of the vehicle at 710 26th St. and to the owner of a vehicle at 412 28th St.

Keith reported he cited three properties on Sept. 8 that had inoperable vehicles.

Before the meeting during a board of health hearing, Pat Crenshaw, a representative of the property owner at 717 28th St., requested a hearing before the council regarding board of health violation notifications received by Jerry Florian, the property owner. Western Sales Company was contracted to remove the trailer on the property but is no longer scheduled to do it.

A motion for an extension until Sept. 20 was approved by the council.

In other business:

• Approval was given for the costs for the mandated improvements for the city sewer lagoon to North Central Regional Planning Commission in Beloit for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment loan/grant application. They are $400 for the application, $500 for environmental, and possibly $50 per hour if a cultural survey is needed.

• The council denied a request from Janet and Larry Marker to vacate the alley south of their property at 811 29th Street. Concerns were raised due to potential city growth and utility line availability.
