Wilson to revisit properties
WILSON — Two Wilson property owners have been given a 30-day extension to continue making progress on the cleanup their properties.
David Criswell and Jerry Florian will give an update on their properties at the May 18 council meeting.
Criswell said at Monday’s meeting that he has owned the property at 718-720 26th St. since he purchased it at a Sheriff ’s Sale in November.
“We’re working on it,” he said. “We’re making progress.”
Criswell said he has already had several large containers full of metal hauled off of the property and has asked Acme Metal in Great Bend to provide another metal container to fill.
“I know the commitment is there to clean it up and you’ve got hoppers (containers) coming,” Mayor Mike Peschka said. “I guess my request would be that for whatever reason, if you come to a stop for some reason, valid or not, you will notify us.”
“Yes. I’ll sure do that.” Criswell said.
Florian said he got the west end of his property at 809-815 24th St. cleaned off and will get a vehicle moved when he is able to do so. Like Criswell, Florian is also working with Acme Metal to provide dumpsters.
“When this COVID-19 thing hit it kind of put a stop to everything,” Florian said.
Peschka said he has seen Florian making progress on the property, but there is a considerable amount of work remains.
Wilson Police Chief Josh Tipton, who is also the head of the city’s board of health, said he will go by the properties weekly between now and May 18 to take photographs of the progress. In other business:
