SALINA — Several firstplace finishes on the Lady ‘Cats track team helped the Ellsworth girls clinch fifth place Friday at the NCAA League track and field meet hosted by Salina’s Sacred Heart at Kansas Wesleyan University. The Ellsworth boys’ team also took fifth place.

Friday’s meet was the last of the regular season. Regionals were scheduled for Monday, followed by the state meet May 24 and 25 at Wichita.

Several members of the girls’ team earned first-place finishes, including Lakyn Tenbrink in the high jump; Shaylee Leiker in the 100- and 400-meter dashes; Joni Schroeder in the 1600- and 3200-meter runs; and the Lady ‘Cats 4x400 relay team of Leiker, Tenbrink, Makenzie Stroede and Savannah Hellebust.
