‘Cats join first football Jamboree at Concordia
Shirley Cox Schroeder
The Ellsworth football team traveled to Concordia Saturday for what is expected to be an annual event — a Jamboree that also attracted teams from Beloit, Concordia and Chapman.
The Kansas High School Activities Association this summer approved a new regulation, proposed by high school coaches, to allow a Jamboree with three or four other schools. The event replaces the inner squad scrimmage.
The Jamboree was a controlled scrimmage with a set number of plays. It allowed a practice opportunity against teams not on the Bearcat schedule — similar to a summer team camp. As a result, head coach Josh Homolka will review film he took during the Jamboree, thus allowing the ‘Cats to work on weak spots going into Friday’s game against Russell.
