Both Ellsworth and Central Plains tennis teams tasted victory at the April 5 varsity tennis tournament in Ellsworth.

Brendon Anderson and Chase Bourbon, the Bearcats No. 1 Doubles Team, took first after victories against Hoisington, Sacred Heart and Central Plains.

The Central Plains No. 1 Doubles Team of Paxton Dody and Hunter Green placed fourth after defeating Sterling, but losing to Ellsworth.

In No. 1 Singles play, Oiler Peyton Ryan took first place after defeating opponents from Sterling, Salina South and Sacred Heart.

The Ellsworth High School Tennis Team took fourth, overall, with Central Plains taking third, overall.

Rudhra Bhakta, the Bearcats’ No. 1 Singles player, took seventh place after defeating his opponent from Sacred Heart, but losing to Ellinwood.

In No. 2 Doubles, Nathan Cauthon and Isiah Jenson of Central Plains placed fifth after losing to Sacred Heart and Larned, but defeating Hoisington.

Ellsworth did not field a No. 2 Doubles team.
